Epinions Why I Love This Camera

by  king_sal,  May 29, 2006
Pros: Good quality pictures, Long battery life, Low price
Cons: Uses expensive Memory Stick media
The Bottom Line: It's an easy-to-use, affordable camera with top-of-the-line picture quality. Very highly recommended.
Review: It's not everyday that I'm impressed with a particular digital camera. In fact, I come across several digital cameras monthly due to the nature of my hobby. Last month, I worked with the DSC-W50 to photograph some cars for a local automobile dealer. ...

Epinions Stunning Value For Money

by  ldu95240,  Aug 26, 2007
Pros: Image quality, classy looks, feature packed, compact and easy to use
Cons: Expensive storage media and accessories, user interface sometimes fiddly.
The Bottom Line: Not as good as an SLR, but take into account the user friendliness and the large degree of flexibility it gives you in terms of exposure adjustment it's excellent.
Review: Sony’s mid range DSC-W50 fits between the W30 and W70 and the main difference between them is that the W30 has a smaller 2-inch screen as opposed to the 2.5-inch item on the W50, whilst the W70 has the more flexible 7 megapixel CCD. Other than that ...

Epinions Impressive camera, improves on a great line...

by  silflayhraka,  Apr 27, 2006
Pros: Better than it's more expensive predecessors. Fixes key faults.
Cons: Television real-estate hucksters. Camera? No cons, really. Good value for price.
The Bottom Line: Great deal. Carry with you anywhere. Great results. Feature-packed, movies, stills, audio.
Review: I've been a DSC-T1 owner for about 2.5 years now I guess, and I've had a chance to run the DSC-W50 through its paces and see how they stack up. The DSC-T1 broke new ground with its deck-of-cards form factor, and, I must say, despite my aging Nikon ...

Epinions A digital camera everyone can use

by  mjbeyman,  Jun 10, 2006
Pros: Very simple layout, easy to use, optical viewfinder a plus, good picture quality
Cons: Optical zoom is lacking
The Bottom Line: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 is a very good camera. It stands out because of its incredibly easy to use interface. It is highly recommended.
Review: Looking for a great first camera? Not very digital savvy? Maybe you're experienced but are looking to upgrade but not spend a lot. If so, the Sony DSC-W50 is perfect for you. This camera has it all, an incredibly easy user interface, a simple control ...

Epinions Fast with Great Pics and Low Price

by  jacobucci,  May 14, 2006
Pros: Fast! Great pics! Low Price! Lots of Features!
Cons: Multi-Use Terminal.
The Bottom Line: High Bang for the buck! A great buy at a great price.
Review: Update: Dec 16, 2006 I've had this camera for quite some time now and I still really love it. I was concerned about battery life and chargers before but let me tell you, even with the focus set to Continuous, the battery seems to last forever! I decided ...

Epinions Much better than my old T1. User friendly!

by  ahohl1,  Mar 27, 2007
Pros: Features are much more accessible and simple to use than previous models. Better battery.
Cons: No "email" mode to record a small copy alongside the high-res copy.
The Bottom Line: It's nice to have 100 features, but it's better to have 15 features that are obvious and easy to access. That's what this camera has over older models.
Review: What is the good of features if you have to read the manual 3 or 4 times to figure out how to use them? The W50 solves this problem with small but useful improvements. Where my T1 required use of the menu button to change pre-programmed modes (beach, ...

Epinions Rechargeable batteries recommended for this camera!!!

by  kelskelskels,  Sep 5, 2007
Pros: Good price, good pictures, big screen, nice effects, very durable.
Cons: Poor battery life.
The Bottom Line: This camera is recommended because the overall qualities are very good.
Review: This camera is an excellent camera. It has a nice, wide screen, and it is easy to use. It takes the best pictures. The controls are easy to use as well. The only thing I really don't like about this camera is that it is hard to get the camera to take a ...

Epinions Great compact point and shoot camera

by  winnister,  Jan 12, 2008
Pros: Ease of use, compact size, broad range of features, photo quality.
Cons: No multi-focus feature, no safety feature for low battery.
The Bottom Line: Amazing value for such a great camera, and especially compact and handy for the active 20-something.
Review: My first digital camera back in 2001 was a Sony, and then I made the mistake of switching brands. The Sony DSC-W50 is a great camera for anyone that wants quality photos in an active lifestyle. After nearly two years of ownership and over 2500 photos, ...

Epinions Nice & Compact

by  caljohn,  Jan 3, 2007
Pros: Fits in pocket, great pictures, good price for a 6MP camera ($250),
Cons: Hard to get a good picture in low light,
Review: This camera is pretty good. The only problem I have is when I want to take a picture indoors in a low light room. Either the picture comes out too dark or too bright (even on the low light with flash setting). Apart from that, it takes excellent ...

Epinions Lots of bang for the buck!

by  cgmundy,  Apr 18, 2006
Pros: cool design, compact size, 2.5" LCD screen PLUS viewfinder, long battery life, easy to use
Cons: proprietary battery is high quality, but expensive. 3x optical zoom is sufficient, but not fantastic
Review: After grappling with a too advanced 6MP prosumer SLR-style camera for the past year or so, I thought I'd do myself a favor and get a reasonably-priced ultra-compact camera with at least 6MP, as a foil for more casual use. The Sony DSC-W50 fits the bill ...
