Epinions GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD (1950’S NECK)

by  Dr.P,  May 17, 2007
Pros: This is one of the greatest guitars ever made.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: Owning this guitar is like owning a piece of history.
Review: GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD (1950’S NECK) This is the guitar that set the “standard” by which all other guitars are measured. Remember, I did not say that it is the “best” guitar in the world, although some might argue that ...

Epinions So, are you that good or do you just have money to burn?

by  HawgWyld,  Nov 30, 2000
Pros: Great workmanship, durability, fantastic sound
Cons: A bit heavy, expensive
Review: There ought to be a test that one has to pass before buying one of these things. Specifically, if a person can't demonstrate a certain level of guitar mastery, he doesn't have any business plunking down around $3,200 for a Les Paul. These are damned...

Pros: Pure Gibson Quality, Exotic Looking Finish, Sounds Great, Feels Great

The Bottom Line: The Gibson Les Paul standard was the birth... and still I can easily say the 'future' of rich and wonderful music.
Review: If I really owned this guitar... I'd be the coolest guitarist on the block... Well, maybe... One of my guitarist friends owns a Gibson Les Paul Standard. It's a wonderful guitar. There are so many things that you can love about it. Well, I loved it, but...

Epinions Not quite what I would call lunky...

by  BathtimeFriend,  Jul 29, 2000
Pros: Sounds great, feels great, great guitar on which to train
Cons: "Heavy, lunky, hard to reach the uppermost frets"
Review: Ah, the Gibson Les Paul Standard. You'll see this one a lot in rock and roll, and for many very good reasons, most of which I hope to divulge here. In many ways this is a comparison of Gibsons to Fenders, here to help the potential buyer choose, at...

Epinions The Corvette of Electric Guitars... (2001 Cherryburst Standard)

by  jystrebler,  Jan 6, 2002
Pros: Sound, appearance, retains and appreciates in value.
Cons: Expensive to acquire. Heavy.
The Bottom Line: Frankly, the best mass-produced electric guitars ever made.
Review: This is my second Les Paul Standard, so I thought it deserved its own review.

This one is cherry sunburst. (The same color as on the one on the epinions page.) There was a great deal on them, and I couldn’t resist. Cherry Sunburst is...

Pros: Great guitar, excellent build quality
Cons: the price
The Bottom Line: A superb instrument
Review: I love the les Paul. It has to be one of the all time most famous shaped guitars around, after the Fender Stratocaster.
Here, I would like to write about some of the different types of Les Paul.

30th Anniversary Edition Standard.

Review: I have been playing a Fender Strat so this was a very different experience for me.I bought the 60s neck standard and I actually think it seems slimmer than the strat neck on my US.Its a guitar you can afford to be sloppier on.My strat seems to be anal ...

Epinions You gotta get one of these!!! (2001 Ebony Standard.)

by  jystrebler,  Jun 28, 2001
Pros: Appearance, sound, playability.
Cons: Price, weight.
The Bottom Line: You just need one of these. If you don't have one, now, you'll want one eventually. You'll never regret owning it.
Review: There is a reason this is an icon of the Rock and Roll guitar. Along with the Stratocaster, it's probably the shape most readily identified (and copied.)

This thing has a big, heavy body. Newer ones have metal tuning heads. It comes with no...
